The Clacton carnival is held the second Saturday in August, and lasts for one week. This entertainment arts festival provides entertainment and look at some of the local artists. This carnival features contests like castle building and a children dress contest and also includes a stunning firework display. The last Monday in August is a bank holiday, and the Friday before this break has a historical air show on display at the local airstrip. This show the heavily features some of the most known planes from the Royal Air Force that was flown during WWII like the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane. They also feature modern aircraft like helicopters, and give a stunning display in the skies showing how the planes worked in the Golden Age.
